Northpoint City mall on track to be 90% leased upon opening

Northpoint City, the largest mall in northern Singapore developed by Frasers Centrepoint Singapore, is on track to be 90 per cent leased when it opens its doors to shoppers in the fourth quarter.

Housing over 400 retail and dining outlets across two retail wings, the mall is part of the Northpoint City integrated development that includes the 920-unit North Park Residences, community spaces, an air-conditioned bus interchange and an underground retail link with direct access to Yishun MRT station.

The underground link will feature over 30 retail and quick serve concepts to offer added convenience to commuters, Frasers Centrepoint Singapore said on Tuesday.

Of the two retail wings, the North Wing is the existing Northpoint Shopping Centre that is due to complete its renovation by September, while the South Wing is scheduled to be ready by the fourth quarter of this year.

Linking the two wings of Northpoint City’s retail space will be The Courtyard at Basement 1.

With over 100 F&B outlets in Northpoint City, close to 30 per cent of the overall retail space is set aside for F&B.

Anchor tenants Harvey Norman will move from its previous 8,000 square foot space to a brand-new duplex of 34,000 sq ft while FairPrice will open a supermarket spanning 33,000 sq ft. This is in addition to the existing Cold Storage whose supermarket takes up 15,000 sq ft.

Northpoint City is expected to serve as a lifestyle, recreation and integrated transportation hub for over half a million residents in Singapore’s northern region, Frasers Centrepoint Singapore said.

The Nee Soon Central Community Club will move into the South Wing of the mall by 2018 and will be the first community club in Singapore to be housed in a shopping mall.

The Nee Soon Central Community Club and the bus interchange are also on track to be operational by 2018 and 2019 respectively. The Yishun Public Library will also be re-opening in the mall by the first quarter of next year.

Through the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s Community and Sports Facilities Scheme (CSFS), Frasers Centrepoint Singapore created additional space for community-focused services.

These community-centric tenants include The RICE Company, a non-profit performing arts organisation, as well as childcare centre The Orange Academy.

At the 920-unit North Park Residences, some 87 per cent of the units have been sold to date. They will be ready for occupation by the fourth quarter of 2018.
